dc.description.abstractThe manipueira is one of the residues left from the processing of the cassava root (Manihot esculenta Crantz) in order to get the cassava flour. Although the difficulties related to the huge amounts generated, to the high pollution and inherent toxicity, this product has presented great potential in several uses in agricultural activities, especially in its use as a biofertilizer. This work aims at carrying out a review of literature on the use of the manipueira as a biofertilizer in the cultivation of vegetables. A review of literature was made with the use of descriptors related to: manipueira, biofertilizer, manure and vegetable cultivation. This bibliographical research was done in indexed scientific journals such as Google Scholar, Scielo and CAPES journals, complemented with a manual search in reference lists of selected works covering the period 1995 to 2020. Have been verified several studies which point out the great potential of the use of manipueira as biofertilizer in vegetable cultivation of six families: Solanaceae, Asteraceae, Brassicaceae, Apiaceae, Malvaceae e Rosaceae. In most of the searched works the treatments with manipueira use showed production on par with treatments that used conventional models of fertilization. It was also observed the need of widening the studies to more species of vegetables, besides associating the use of manipueira to other cultivation models at field level. We believe that these findings can contribute to the reduction of contamination caused by this residue resulting from the cassava processing, as well as providing an alternative to the use of chemical fertilizers to farmerspt_BR
