Abstract

The present work has the general objective of analyzing the history of mathematics as a pedagogical resource in elementary education in the final years of the municipal and state public network of Uruçuí-PI in the perception of teachers and students. More specifically, identify whether the mathematics teacher contextualizes the history of mathematics in the classes of this subject; verify whether mathematics teachers perceive interest in the content on the part of students when addressing historical mathematical concepts. The research was designed to be qualitative in nature and exploratory and explanatory in nature. In order to achieve the proposed objective, we developed a questionnaire for data collection, which was applied to six teachers and twenty students in mathematics classes in the final years of Elementary School in the Municipality of Uruçuí-PI. The results of the research showed that there was a predominance of teachers interviewed that the history of mathematics is a good resource to assist in mathematics classes, and as for the students surveyed, there was a superiority in relation to the answers regarding the use of the history of mathematics in the classroom. class, this means that it brings great enrichment to your learning.
