Abstract

The present work aimed to investigate the impact of illegal hunting of wild animals on the biodiversity of Povoado Taboquinha, in the municipality of Valença do Piauí through the analysis of the possible impacts of illegal hunting on the faunal biodiversity of Povoado Taboquinha and also provide recognition of the importance of wild animals for the environment. In view of this, the level of knowledge that the village's residents have about hunting wild animals was investigated; the names of the ethnospecies that are victims of illegal hunting in the Taboquinha village were catalogued; An eBook was created with the results of the research and recommendations for the preservation of fauna, which will later be made available to the municipality's Environment Department and educational institutions. The methodology applied was structured as a qualitativequantitative nature, carrying out interviews with eight (male) participants from the Taboquinha community, using printed questionnaires with open and closed questions. In general, it was demonstrated that of the 8 (n=8), 7 (n=7) interviewed reported a decrease in the capture of animals. Therefore, it also revealed that hunters have full knowledge of the laws protecting wild animals, but in line with this, they continue hunting illegally. With the completion of the research, it was possible to deduce that family hierarchy is one of the main reasons for illegal hunting within the Village
