Abstract

The present Educational Product, titled "Lecture Series 'Student Retention and Success at IFPI: Monitoring, Strategies, and Pedagogical Practices," is an integral part of the dissertation "Analysis of Strategic Intervention Actions on Student Retention and Combatting School Dropout in the Technical Course in Animal Husbandry at IFPI Campo Maior," under the guidance of Professor Dr. Márcio Aurélio Carvalho de Morais, and submitted to the Professional Master's Program in Professional and Technological Education (ProfEPT), offered by the Federal Institute of Piauí (IFPI) Parnaíba Campus. Based on the analysis of the results of a questionnaire and interviews conducted with staff and students at IFPI Campo Maior (CACAM), the need to promote discussions on student retention and the challenge of combating school dropout at the institution was identified. Thus, the proposal for this educational product was developed in the form of a lecture series as an academic, scientific, and cultural event aimed at discussing a central theme—specifically, student retention. In the same vein, education professionals, students, and the IFPI CACAM community were invited to reflect on dropout and retention from pedagogical (teaching and learning), budgetary (Student Assistance), and strategic (local institutional plans) perspectives. The goal is to understand which personal, internal, and external factors most impact the retention of students in the Technical Course in Animal Husbandry and how IFPI CACAM works to encourage student retention and address school dropout. Finally, the Educational Product, Lecture Series "Student Retention and Success at IFPI: Monitoring, Strategies, and Pedagogical Practices," is part of the Research Line on Educational Practices in Professional and Technological Education (EPT), within Macroproject 3 – Educational Practices in the Integrated Curriculum, of the Professional Master's Program – ProfEPT.
