Matemática no cotidiano dos alunos do 3° ano ensino médio regular e integral da Escola Estadual “Ceti Demerval Lobão” de Angical do Piauí

Abstract

The present work is part of a research that aimed to verify the perception of mathematics in the daily life of students of the 3rd regular and full year of high school of the “Unidade Escolar Demerval Lobão” in Angical do Piauí, since mathematics is a component inherent in everyone’s life. The following problem is taken into account: Is mathematics perceived or recognized by students as an integral part of their lives? The choice of research topic stems from the fact that the 3rd year of high school is the final stage of basic education and it is extremely important to identify the point of view of students who are completing this stage of education. Some points regarding the importance of mathematics in everyday life were presented. To achieve the objectives, the work was based on exploratory bibliographic research with the application of questionnaires with open and closed questions, with 80 students. The content presented is part of the discussions about the need to relate mathematics to the daily lives of students, so that they have a more concrete view of this science and, thus, can apply it in their reality. In addition, some results were obtained that showed the possible relationship between students and mathematics in their daily lives, factors that made it possible to perceive a certain distance between them. In addition, they were mentioned where mathematics is more noticeable in the reality of the students who participated in the present research, and what areas of knowledge they were able to identify. However, one of the reasons that possibly generated this distance was also presented, mainly from the external community that are part of the reality of the students
