dc.description.abstract The main interest of this study is to consider the role of the teacher in the inclusion of students with autism. This research aims to understand the importance of the teacher-autistic student relationship for teaching learning. Therefore, the article addresses the following question: how important is the teacher-student relationship in the teaching-learning process? It is understood that the teacher is seen as a mediator in the teaching-learning process and for this reason it is important that the educator and the autistic student have a harmonious coexistence and thus help in the learning process. Qualitative bibliographical research was developed. The results found indicated that the relationship between teacher/autistic student is characterized by unusual challenges in social interaction and communication, such as restricted activities, interests and characteristics that directly impact this relationship and consequently impact the teaching-learning process. This allowed us to realize that the teacher can be a facilitator or hinderer within this learning process.pt_BR
