dc.description.abstract Acupuncture has been used as an alternative treatment to improve the quality of life of people with fibromyalgia syndrome (FMS). Fibromyalgia (FM) is classified as an idiopathic syndrome that mainly affects the musculoskeletal system. The objective of this study is to describe, based on scientific literature, the effectiveness of acupuncture in treating pain and improving the quality of life of people with fibromyalgia syndrome. An integrative and descriptive review was carried out on the databases included in the following databases: Scielo, Google Scholar, VHL Pics, e_Bu@h Biblioteca Digital Universidad de Alcalá in addition to national periodicals. There were articles from 2014 to 2024. In Portuguese and English for research material. All the articles evaluated, the majority point out that fibromyalgia (FM) predominantly affects women and is related to chronic fatigue, sleep disorders, anxiety and also depression, associated with disability and performance in their daily life activities. This integrative review brings as a result, acupuncture is an effective method for supporting treatment in fibromyalgia, demonstrating an improvement in functional capacity, reducing pain in tender points and consequently relieving pain, tiredness, sleep, stiffness, anxiety and emotional changes, thus favoring an improvement in the quality of life in individuals with fibromyalgia syndrome.pt_BR
dc.description.resumo A acupuntura tem sido utilizada como tratamento alternativo para melhora da qualidade de vida de pessoas portadoras da síndrome fibromiálgica (SFM). A Fibromialgia (FM) é classificada como uma síndrome idiopática no qual acomete principalmente o sistema musculoesquelético. O objetivo deste estudo é descrever a partir da literatura cientifica sobre a eficácia da acupuntura no tratamento da dor e na melhora da qualidade de vida de pessoas com síndrome fibromiálgica. Foi realizada uma revisão integrativa e descritiva nos bancos de dados inseridos nas bases de dados: Scielo, Google acadêmico, BVS Pics, e_Bu@h Biblioteca Digital Universidad de Alcalá além de periódicos nacionais. Foram artigos de 2014 à 2024. Na lingua portuguesa e inglesa para material de pesquisa. Todos os artigos avaliados, a maioria apontam que a fibromialgia (FM) afetam predominantemente mulheres e está relacionada à fadiga crônica, alterações do sono, ansiedade e também depressão, associadas à incapacidade e ao desempenho em suas atividades de vida diária.Esta revisão integrativa traz como resultado que a acupuntura é um método eficaz para o tratamento coadjuvante na fibromialgia, demonstrando uma melhora na capacidade funcional, na redução da dor nos tender points e consequentemente no alívio da dor, cansaço, sono, rigidez, ansiedade e alterações emocionais, favorecendo assim uma melhora da qualidade de vida em indivíduos com sindrome fibromiálgica.pt_BR
