Geotecnologias para análise da vulnerabilidade ambiental no parque nacional das nascentes do Rio Parnaíba

Abstract

The conservation of protected areas faces increasing challenges due to agricultural expansion and changes in land use. The Parnaiba River Springs National Park, located between the states of Maranhão, Piaui, Tocantins and Bahia, plays a crucial role in maintaining the region's biodiversity and water resources. The objective of this study was to analyze the environmental vulnerability of the park due to changes in the landscape through the use of geotechnology. The methodology involved the analysis of geological, pedological, slope and land use data to classify the park's areas according to their level of vulnerability. The results indicated that most of the park has low vulnerability, but there are critical areas classified as high and very high vulnerability, especially in regions with greater slope and fragile soils. The research reinforces the importance of geotechnologies in environmental monitoring and sustainable management of conservation units, allowing the identification of priority areas for preservation actions. Furthermore, the need for effective public policies and community involvement is highlighted to ensure long-term protection of the park., and land-use data to classify park areas according to their vulnerability levels. The results indicated that most of the park has low vulnerability; however, critical areas classified as high and very high vulnerability were identified, particularly in regions with steep slopes and fragile soils. The research highlights the importance of geotechnologies in environmental monitoring and the sustainable management of conservation units, enabling the identification of priority areas for preservation actions.
