| dc.description.abstract | Agribusiness has proved it self as a dynamic sector of the Brazilian economy, especially the cerrado is characterized by the systematization and verticalization of the production, processing, transportation and commercialization of agricultural goods, validated by the integration between field, industry and services. However, agribusiness is marked by recent and intense technical, social and environmental changes in rural areas. In view of the changes brought about by agribusiness, particularly on land, labor and the environment, this research questions the process of development and consolidation of agribusiness in the Piauí Cerrado, given the social and environmental contradictions that arise. The general objective was to analyze the diffusion and intensification of agribusiness in the Brazilian cerrado and Piauí, as well as the role of institutional mechanisms for sustainable development aimed at the exploitation of the primary economy. As specific objectives, agribusiness was discussed, highlighting the political / economic and environmental factors inherent in the expansion in the cerrado; we identified the positive and negative impacts generated by the diffusion of agribusiness; environmental legislation related to the control and control of the exploitation of natural resources; and reflected on the prospects for interaction (or not) between sustainable development and agribusiness. The research has descriptive / explanatory nature, based on bibliographical and documentary information, and is structured in the dialectical method. | dc.description.resumo | O agronegócio tem se demonstrado como um setor dinâmico da economia brasileira, caracterizado pela sistematização e verticalização da produção, processamento, transporte e comercialização das mercadorias agrícolas, validado pela integração entre campo, indústria e serviços, mas marcado por recentes e intensas mudanças técnicas, sociais e ambientais no espaço rural. Tendo em vista as transformações provocadas pelo agronegócio, em particular, sobre a terra, o trabalho e o meio ambiente, esta pesquisa questiona o processo de desenvolvimento e consolidação do agronegócio no cerrado, sobretudo o piauiense, haja vista as contradições sociais e ambientais decorrentes. O objetivo geral orientou-se na análise da difusão e intensificação do agronegócio no cerrado brasileiro, como no Piauí, além do papel dos mecanismos institucionais de desenvolvimento sustentável voltados à exploração da economia primária. Como objetivos específicos, debateu-se agronegócio, destacando os fatores políticos/econômicos e ambientais inerentes à expansão no cerrado; identificou-se os impactos positivos e negativos gerados pela difusão do agronegócio; abordou-se a legislação ambiental relacionada à fiscalização e controle da exploração dos recursos naturais; e refletiu-se sobre as perspectivas de interação (ou não) entre desenvolvimento sustentável e agronegócio. A investigação apresenta natureza descritiva/explicativa, embasada em informações bibliográfica e documental.
