A gestão dos resíduos sólidos na cidade de Teresina-PI

Abstract

In Brazil, the accelerated growth of the population is increasingly becoming a challenge and a concern the destination and management of urban solid waste, the management of these assumes a very important role with regard to the preservation of the environment and sustainable life, while millions of wastes are produced daily, and their destination is a worrying factor for everyone, In the face of this problem the present work has as its general objective to analyze the management of solid waste produced in the city of Teresina-Piauí, and specific to characterize the management of this waste, investigate existing public policies and identify the implementation of proposals for environmental education programs and compliance with legislation. The study presents an exploratory, qualitative research, where the methods adopted are bibliographic and documental. Teresina has a Municipal Plan for Integrated Management of Solid Waste te Teresina/PI, where the general objective of PMGIRS is to establish a planning of solid waste actions in a way that meets the principles of national policy and that is built through a participatory management, involving society in the drafting process, from the analysis it was possible to verify the importance of complying with what is provided for in PMGIRS of Teresina and what the Law 12.305/2010 establishes in order to have an efficient management of solid waste. In this context, the participation of the population, government and municipality, has become increasingly necessary in order to enable the disposal of these wastes more efficiently, because there is a great need for improvements, definitions and guidelines that can put into practice planned actions so that technical and financial resources can be better used, thus preventing them from becoming inefficient.
