A utilização do software euclidea em uma turma do curso licenciatura em matemática: potencialidades e desafios

Abstract

In this article, we investigated the potential and challenges of using the Euclidea software in teaching Geometric Design in a class of the Mathematics Degree course offered at the Instituto Federal Campus São Raimundo Nonato – PI. The work was organized in three stages, namely: (1) the students had their first contact with Euclidea, in which they discussed the importance of the software, the main functionalities, the intuitive interface and some initial constructions; (2) the students, autonomously, carried out the constructions related to the phases of the subsequent libraries. (3) students participated in solving a questionnaire with questions related to the activity carried out. After that, the data was analyzed qualitatively, to prepare the results stage of the Research. With this, it was realized that, although Euclidea is recognized as a valuable tool in teaching Geometric Design, it is imperative to carefully consider both the benefits and the challenges. The benefits highlighted, such as the organized structure of the content and the intuitive ease of construction, are positive elements that promote an enriching experience for students. On the other hand, challenges, such as technical issues in updating the website, the complexity in constructing certain geometric figures and the initial lack of knowledge of the software, highlight areas that require attention and possible improvement.
