Abstract

The environmental issue acquired social and political dimensions mainly from the late 1960s onwards. This situation has been observed precisely because humans aim only for the immediate benefits of their actions, prioritizing economic growth at any cost and relegating the capacity for ecosystem recovery to a secondary level. From this perspective, the need arises to generate development without disregarding the needs of current and future society, as well as to ensure the improvement of the population's quality of life. Thus, the present work aims to conduct a literature review to evaluate the socio-environmental consequences of dam failures, with the intention of investigating the socio-environmental and economic impacts caused by the failures of the containment dams of the solar park in the localities of Buritizinho and Macacos, identifying the damage and destruction caused by the dam failures, as well as assessing the consequences of dam failures for the residents, fauna, and flora of the affected regions. In this context, the study and analysis proposed in this research are necessary to understand the dynamics of the events surrounding the rupture of such dams, as well as to assess the impacts and damages caused. The methodology used in the execution of the aforementioned work consisted of a bibliographic research, and for this purpose, a bibliographic survey of the works developed in the area and related topics was conducted, to provide greater support for the issues presented here. For this purpose, the data for the aforementioned research were collected through a bibliographic survey, where scientific articles from publications in conferences and scientific journals available on the internet were selected
