A relação da Etnomatemática e as práticas agrícolas no cultivo de legume: um estudo de caso na localidade Raimundão no município de Dirceu Arcoverde-PI

Abstract

This article developed under the title, The relationship between ethnomathematics and agricultural practices in the cultivation of vegetables: a case study in the locality Raimundão in the Municipality of Dirceu Arcoverde PI. The study relates popular knowledge with the scientific knowledge of Mathematics, with the general objective of analyzing the relationship of Ethnomathematics and agricultural practices in the cultivation of vegetables in the area of the source of the dam of the Tanque Novo locality in the municipality of Dirceu ArcoverdePI. It starts with the following problem: how does mathematical knowledge, inherited between generations, influence the cultivation of vegetables in the area of the source of the dam in the town of Tanque Novo, in the municipality of Dirceu Arcoverde-PI? We had as a theoretical basis the studies of D'Ambrósio (2007), Borba (2015), Mattos and Brito (2012), Gil (2002), among others. field research with a qualitative and quantitative approach, using a questionnaire with open questions containing 15 questions as a data collection method. In which, the research was divided into phases, where the first was the recognition of the place, from observation of the dam, through informal conversations with residents of the Raimundão community. In the second, a semi-structured interview, seeking information related to the main types of vegetables planted, ways of planting, quantity and quality of vegetables in the locality, the third was the measurement of the area of each ebb. Where it was possible to observe that these farmers seek a livelihood for their family, through planting at the source of the dam. We noticed that farmers have mathematical knowledge, acquired through their families, passed on from generation to generation. We also found that mathematics is not addressed only in the school context. Because it is effective for the community, therefore, in the use of athematical calculations of areas, volumes, distance between the plantations and the depth of the plants, with this we observe how mathematics is present in our daily lives, whether as a farmer or an agronomist.
