O que a literatura fala sobre o sinal de igualdade

Abstract

The present work aims to show what the literature talks about the equality sign, that is, what students think about the equality sign, to verify if the majority has a total understanding, relational and operational conception, about their meanings in several situations. The methodology used involved a bibliographic research, where we sought, through the analysis of several works, more concrete conclusions about the sign of equality. The methodology also involved a qualitative research, in which we selected some articles for analysis and conclusion of what the literature tells us about the sign of equality. The results obtained point out that the students, the great majority of them, have an operational conception about the equality sign, that is, they look at the equal sign as a command, or better, an operation to be carried out and gives the result, thus, do not understand the equal sign in its entirety
