Gerenciamento de resíduo de óleo lubrificante gerado nas oficinas do município de Corrente - PI

Abstract

Lubricating oils come from petroleum, but after used by vehicles contain products resulting from the partial deterioration of the oils in use, where one of the main impacts generated is in the incorrect form of disposal in the environment, because it contains several heavy metals in their compositions. The objective of this work was to verify how the workshops of the municipality of Corrente-PI discard the lubricating oil and the tailings that are produced in them. The research was developed in the urban perimeter of Corrente, Piauí, a municipality with approximately 26,205 inhabitants. It was used of the scientific investigation, from the application of questionnaires containing 15 closed questions, applied to the owners and employees of the local workshops, to obtain answers as to the destination and final disposal of the waste produced. The research results show that both lubricating oils and packaging are untreated and do not have a correct final destination. As a toxic waste, current environmental legislation makes it mandatory to collect and dispose of it properly. Therefore, it was verified that there is a lack of knowledge about the subject matter, and that educational campaigns are necessary with the target public being the owners and employees of all the enterprises studied that perform the oil change, highlighting the environmental damage caused by the lubricants and requiring correct conducts for the storage and collection of the product.
