Educação ambiental e importância das abelhas nativas na Caatinga: percepção de alunos do Ensino Fundamental II

Abstract

Bees play a vital role in the pollination of natural and agricultural ecosystems, with 40% to 90% of native trees pollinated by stingless bees, however there are factors that help in the disappearance of bees and school is an extension of the learning experience, being one of the places where future citizens will take their first steps towards learning how to care for the environment. Therefore, this work aimed to analyze the perception of Elementary School II students in the municipality of Bela Vista do Piauí about the ecological importance of bees, with a special focus on stingless bees from the Caatinga. The research was quantitative in nature, using questionnaires administered before and after an expository-dialogue class in an elementary school, with the participation of 28 9th grade students. With the data obtained, it was possible to observe that the students have some knowledge about bees, most of whom have already had some type of contact and understand their ecological importance, indicating positive results after the class. It is concluded that environmental education is crucial for the formation of conscious citizens and for the conservation of biodiversity. It is essential to include content about bees in school teaching materials, preparing students to understand the importance of these insects.
