Impactos socioeconômicos causados pela construção da barragem atalaia, Sebastião Barros - PI

Abstract

Due to the problem of water scarcity in the Brazilian Northeast, society is in many situations committed to this problem, some populations are directly affected and it is necessary to seek alternatives to minimize or completely solve the problem in the region of the municipalities of Sebastião Barros e Corrente-PI rural communities are facing the impacts of the construction of the Atalaia dam, government intervention to solve the water shortage in the southern region of Piauí, which had been suffering from the problems caused by water shortages. Thus the objective of this work is to analyze the social impacts to communities affected by the construction of the Atalaia dam. The method used to develop the research was bibliographic review, on-site visits, applications of questionnaires with open, closed questions and recordings of residents' speeches. Through this research it was possible to verify that 48.27% of the population interviewed have incomplete elementary education, 20.68% illiterate, 13.79% complete secondary education, 10.34% complete primary education and 6.89% secondary education. When questioned about the quality of life after the construction of the dam, 89.65% of the residents stated that it worsened a lot and 10.34% improved, on the job offer 62.06% said they had decreased and 37.93% Of 31.03% answered that they would keep the same activities and 68.96% would not be able to keep the same activities. Those affected by the construction of the dam said that 89.65% are dissatisfied with losses that were not compensated and 10.34%, they were satisfied. It was concluded that the population affected by the construction of the Atalaia dam had significant effects on the lifestyle of the communities directly and indirectly involved, promoting changes in the social, and economic environment, where they will have their way of life altered, mainly losing their culture , Its "roots", its history.
