dc.description.abstract Biomaterials are substances that interact with biological systems to treat, increase or replace any tissues and / or organs that cease to have their functions, as in the tissue healing process. One of the most recent discoveries in this area is the polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) bipolymer, made from sugarcane bagasse, which may be associated with several biomaterials, such as Bixina, an antioxidant dicarboxylic carotenoid found in the Bixa orellana L species, and Aloe vera, a plant of African origin used medicinally. The objective was to prepare PHB / Aloe vera / BIXINA membranes for a possible application to aid in the tissue healing process. The membranes were synthesized and characterized physico-chemical. To evaluate the absorption capacity of the membranes, they were immersed in deionized water and physiological solution (0.9%). SEM tests showed the presence of irregular and porous structures. The results obtained by DR-X showed peaks between 17.9 and 30.6, suggesting that the substance has a semicrystalline characteristic, and the data obtained by DSC showed that the bixin fusion occurs near 200 ºC. As for the water absorption and physiological solution, the M1 membrane in the water absorption test showed an increase in mass after 3 hours compared to the initial mass, and M3 presented a higher capacity of absorption of physiological solution after 3 hours compared to the initial mass. It was also observed that the membranes presented greater capacity of absorption and greater degradation in the middle of the deionized water.pt_BR
