Abstract

The infrastructure is part of the urban construction of any city, however small it may be, such as water treatment and distribution services, sewage treatment, solid waste management and urban drainage that make up what is called basic sanitation. However, the supply of these services does not happen as they should, there is a precariousness or absence that ends up not supplying the demand of the population, since the number of people has increased a lot in the last years, and consequently the consumption and necessity of the society with respect To basic sanitation services, which leads to an increase in the volume of solid waste generation, which can have negative implications and this leads to contamination of water resources and proliferation of vectors and diseases, flooding due to lack of urban drainage devices, as well as other Problems related to lack of basic sanitation. The presence of an efficient basic sanitation system makes a total difference in the structure of the city, promoting comfort and well-being for the population, in a time that promotes savings with respect to public health investment. In this study, we sought information from the bodies responsible for the urban structure of the city of Corrente-PI, in a time that sought to verify how these services are performed and offered. Therefore, the descriptive-exploratory methodology was used, since previous information was compiled on the subject, in a time that, it was tried to promote the understanding on the administration of the services. However, the information acquired is not in accordance with the legislation and master plan of the municipality. It is concluded that through the research conducted that the municipality of Corrente - PI, does not have adequate planning, and does not have minimum basic sanitation infrastructure, as it is not enough to meet the needs of the entire population.
