dc.description.abstract Bats are of interest in many studies around the world, either because of their ecological characteristics, epidemiological relevance or because they belong to the second largest order of mammals in terms of species diversity: the Chriroptera. Currently, about 181 species of bats are known, distributed in 68 genera and 9 families (NOGUEIRA et al., 2014). Because of this, this work aimed to compose an integrative review of scientific studies on bats in the mid-northern region of Brazil, with a view to specifying the biomes of this region, as well as identifying the types of collection and capture of them. A systematic search of articles and dissertations was carried out on the database website, which bring the identification of bats in the mid-northern region of the country, such as the Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO) and Google Scholar. The results reveal that although bats are of great importance, there is still a low number of publications dealing with a faunal survey in the mid-northern region of the country, which comprises the states of Piauí and Maranhão, focusing on a historical-social prejudice that makes that are forgotten in lines of research in Brazilian academies. Even if some of the works developed bring an advance to the knowledge of the biomes of the listed region, we encourage that new research can enrich information about them, since they have not been sufficiently explored so far.pt_BR
