A importância da compreensão na linguagem matemática para a resoluções de questões (limitação, vocabulário e repertório cultural)

Abstract

One of the main objects of study of Social Sciences is education, which understands it as a social process with repercussions in History. This means that education is something in constant transformation, presenting itself as a phenomenon with different characteristics according to the historical, social and political context. Without a doubt, Basic Education in Brazil in recent years has undergone major changes as society, the family, and the school also change. Accordingly, it is observed that the discipline of Mathematics has been developed by man and changes over time, thus contributing to the Teaching-Learning process and to the evolution of society as a whole. It should be noted that one of the important factors for the development of mathematics as a discipline and also for the individual's intellectual development is reading with its diversification of information. Thus, the present study sought to investigate the consequences that the deficiency in understanding mathematical language can bring, both in solving mathematical problems and in teaching-learning for other areas of knowledge, and if the teacher as a reference in the classroom makes this bridge between Portuguese language and mathematics. For this, two activities were applied, what differs from each other is that one involves text and the other involves mathematical problems, both with the same content. With this, it was identified that students have more difficulty in answering more elaborate questions
