dc.description.abstract The Methods that provide an initial assessment, of quality and safe of the lymph nodes that are compromised with câncer cells, is essencial for the patient with breast carcinoma. That is why, the research consists of an observation of the effectiveness of the application of the Gamma Probe in the investigation of sentinel lymph node, highlighting the positive points (those that make the technique be considered as the “gold standard”) and the negative points (those who make clinics look for alternatives for investigating this ganglion). Thereby, for theoretical formulation, the methodology was outlined through an integrative bibliographic review, which gathers publications on a certain theme. With this knowledge, from the proposed theme, the research problem was identified, then, in the search for literature, it was necessary to identify the Decs (Health Sciences Descriptors) and from them searches were made within the databases. Where it is concluded that the method using radioactive material and subsequent use of the Gamma Probe, both alone as ally with other techniques proved to be a good alternative, but practicable in most cases, only in large centers.pt_BR
