Abstract

The research addresses the relationship between urbanization, environmental degradation, and the improper use of water resources, highlighting the transformations in the landscape and the negative effects of human activity. It aims to identify the types of socio-environmental impacts, carry out an environmental characterization of the area, and assess the perceptions of river users regarding the resulting impacts. The methodology included a literature review and the application of questionnaires to residents, business owners, and visitors in the studied area, in order to understand the community's perception of the environmental changes. The results indicate the presence of issues such as irregular sewage disposal, water pollution, and the deforestation of riparian forests — all of which compromise the environmental quality and sustainability of the river. The study also emphasizes the importance of raising ecological awareness among the population and the role of public authorities in developing strategies for mitigation and conservation of the local ecosystem.
