dc.description.abstract Essential oils are volatile chemical compounds, usually composed of hydrocarbons such as monoterpenes, sesquiterpenes and phenylpropanoids, many of which have pharmacological activities, such as antimicrobial activities and antioxidants, these essential oils can be used in aromatherapy, because they have aromas and fragrances. In this work we discuss the oil extraction process, analytical techniques, abiotic and biotic factors that interfere in the composition of the essential oils until a more detailed study of their constituents. In the study were extracted essential oils from the leaves of Cissius silvestris at 3 times; 8h, 12h and 16h, in the city of Ilha Grande - PI, in which it is part of the Delta do Parnaíba. The extraction of the oil from the aromatic plant was carried out by hydrodistillation, a technique involving only heated water together with the crushed leaves of the Cissius silvestris plant, all coupled to a Clevenger tube. The collected oil was sent to the Analytical Center of the Department of Organic and Inorganic Chemistry of the Federal University of Ceará (UFC) for the analysis of the metabolites present in the essential oils through a gas chromatograph coupled to a mass spectrometer (CG / MS). Being possible, the identifications of its constituents and comparisons with data available in the literature. In the circadian study it was possible to observe the compounds found mostlyoxygenated functions, but the major compounds were summarized in four compounds (E)-hex-2-enal, (Z)-hex-3-en-1-ol, Hexanol, oct-1-en-3-ol, found in all schedules varying only the proportions, a small variation in the essential oils yield was observed in the study, obtaining the best yield for the collection of 12:00 hours 0.0012%).pt_BR
