A temática ambiental água na alfabetização científica discutida no clube da Química do IFPI Campus Picos

Abstract

Considering the process of scientific literacy necessary for the formation of citizens in order to develop active students in society, the theme water worked in the classroom made possible the students' interest in the chemical concepts, since it is a subject that is part of the conviviality of the individual thus arousing their curiosity, which facilitated the process of teaching learning. Therefore, the general objective of this work is to understand the importance of the use of the Scientific Literacy approach through the theme water in the development of the Chemistry classes of the extension project Clube da Química IFPI, Picos campus. For the study, the following authors were investigated as Chassot (1990), Cajas (2001), Azevedo (2012), Mancuso, Lima and Bandeira (1996), Sá e Queiroz (2009), Atkins and Jones 2012). The research problem: in what way, the chemical concepts worked through the theme water within the context of scientific Literacy, can contribute to the social formation of the academics participating in the extension project Clube da Química, IFPI Campus Picos. In this sense, to carry out this work the research was qualitative exploratory and descriptive, carried out through questionnaires, resolution and elaboration of case studies on water in the social environment. Held at the Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology of Piauí (IFPI) Campus Picos, with the academics of the second and fourth period of the Degree in Chemistry, participants in the project of extension of the Club of Chemistry of said institution with a quantity of twenty three students enrolled in the project of which there was no participation of all. The stages of the research were organized in the following way: dissemination, choice of theme, registration and three meetings of the club with the theme Water At the first meeting were conducted: previous questionnaire, discussion of a news from the macro-region of the city of Picos-PI on the shortage of water and a dialogue on water. In the second meeting: Discussion on water pollution by non biodegradable detergents, conducting a biodegradable detergent experiment and solving a case study on the use of detergents. And in the third meeting: reading and discussing an article on how to elaborate a case study, elaborate case studies and discuss the problems situations elaborated by the students. The results were satisfactory. They identified the importance of case studies in the learning teaching process, making the student participate actively and develop the process of scientific literacy
