Percepções de professores e alunos sobre as dificuldades nos conteúdos matemáticos

Abstract

The present research proposes to verify the difficulties presented by students of the final series of elementary education, in one school of the public network in the city of Teresina-Pi. The research begins by presenting a history of mathematics teaching and methodologies used by teachers of the discipline to facilitate the teaching-learning process. Starting from these points and through a field research, one can ascertain the difficulties presented by 8th and 9th grade students, difficulties expressed almost in a feeling of mathophobia. These difficulties are confronted with the PCN - Mathematics, a tool that targets the teaching activities and contents to be developed by the teacher, as well as the skills expected to be achieved by the students. The results revealed mainly that the students do not see an approximation of the mathematical contents with their reality, causing a disinterest for the discipline
