Reprovações no curso de licenciatura em matemática: causas e consequências

Abstract

The number of failures in the degree course in mathematics is quite high and many reasons are given for this to happen, such as the fragility of the base it received in high school or the lack of connection of the content with everyday situations. The research aimed to identify how the causes and consequences of failures in the degree course in mathematics are described in the Annals of CONNEPI. In this sense, the investigative study sought, in the methodology, to delimit and map the scientific productions in the annals of CONNEPI in the years 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2018 that addressed the theme. It is important to note that after the 2016 edition, the event started to be held every two years, as a result, there was no edition in 2017. The research was developed through the use of the descriptor Failure in Mathematics, which served to select the articles that spoke about failures and their causes in the degree course in Mathematics. In the set of these productions, we identified two dimensions: Teaching-Learning/Teaching Methodologies and Teacher Training Course. After this analysis, in conclusion, we observe that there is still a great difficulty of higher education institutions in teaching mathematics aimed at teaching practice, which is often confused with a bachelor's degree. This is added to the problem of the lack of consolidation of mathematical content in basic education.
