Modelagem matemática como estratégia de ensino e aprendizagem: o custo da cesta básica

Abstract

Mathematical modeling consists of the art of transforming student reality problems into mathematical problems. This work was developed in a 6th grade class from Elementary School, where we use mathematical modeling as a strategy in the teaching and learning process of mathematics, starting from situations such as cost of the basic basket of their families and conducting research and collecting data with family members on the cost of the basic basket and the price of some of the basic items that make up the basic basket of a family, activities were developed, addressing percentage and decimal numbers. During the activity, students' motivation, curiosity and participation were perceived to seek information related to the monthly expenses of their parents, not only with the basic basket, but also like other products. And at the end of the activities, it is noticed that the contents approached were satisfactorily developed. It was possible to perceive the interest shown by the students in working with content that perhaps in another context would be treated with less enthusiasm by some perhaps because of affinity with the discipline of mathematics. When dealing with the theme "cost of the basic basket", it can be observed that mathematical modeling can be used in any everyday situation and thus provide excellent results in relation to student interest and learning.
