dc.description.abstract Phenolic compounds comprise a varied class of compounds such as phenolic acids, flavonoids, tannins, among others, they form the most prominent group of antioxidants and are the best known in the scientific literature. Belonging to the class of secondary metabolite widely distributed in the plant kingdom. Licania tomentosa, a native species of Brazil more prevalent in the Northeast region, in the states of Bahia, Ceará, and Piauí, is a plant used by folk medicine in northeastern Brazil in the form of extracts and infusions, studies carried out on extracts of seeds have been shown to inhibit herpes simplex virus activity. Based on these theoretical bases and to emphasize the chemical properties of this plant, this project aims to evaluate, through spectrophotometric methodology, the content of flavonoids in the ethanol extract of the stem, stem bark and leaves of Licania tomentosa, collected in the city of Parnaíba - PI. Analyzes were performed using a UV/Vis spectrophotometer using glass cuvettes and the content of total flavonoids was determined using a standard analytical rutin curve in the range of 3-21mg/L-1 , with a linear correlation coefficient R²=0, 997329. The ethanol extract of the leaves (12.93%) had the highest percentage yield, followed by the stem (4.35%) and the stem bark (1.58%). The results showed that the EEC had the highest content of total flavonoids (339.92 µg ER/mg) followed by the EECC (282.30 µER/mg), the EEF ethanol extract had the lowest content (228.80 µER/mg).pt_BR
