Equações do segundo grau: as dificuldades no ensino e aprendizagem e as metodologias mais utilizadas pelos professores

Abstract

The present work reports the difficulties of students in the 9th year of elementary school, from a public school in the municipality of Bom - Principio do Piauí, in solving second degree equations, as well as, it also presents the methodologies most used by the teachers of this school. With that, the objective was to know the difficulties of the students of the 9th year of fundamental education regarding the content of second-degree equations based on bibliographical studies and field research. To identify these difficulties, a questionnaire was initially applied to the students, in order to obtain data on their prior knowledge of the content. Observations of teachers' classes were also carried out regarding the content of second-degree equations to identify the methods used by them. Finally, an intervention action was proposed to help students understand the content, using the Dominó game of equations. The results were considered satisfactory, however, it is noted that Mathematics must still be worked on in the classroom not just as “another subject” that is part of a curriculum that must be followed to the letter. The applied game was not decisive in the Teaching-Learning process, but it helped both the teacher and the student in this journey
