Abstract

The general objective of this article is to understand the ethnomathematics knowledge involved in the jaguar game and its relationship with the plane geometry provided for in the mathematics curriculum. The specific objectives: to investigate the jaguar game in the context of the history and culture of São Pedro do Piauí; to verify the relationship between the jaguar game with the teaching of plane geometry. The methodology adopted in the research is qualitative, implemented through bibliographic research and experiential moments with the Jaguar game in its digital and concrete format. The research had as target audience students of the 6th year of Elementary School II, from a municipal public school in São Pedro do Piauí, located in Povoado Todos os Santos. Furthermore, the Ethnomathematics by Ubiratan D'Ambrósio (2005) is a relevant theoretical reference for understanding the literacies, technocracies and materials present in the teaching process of mathematics learning with games, not only the mathematics taught in schools, but also the mathematics of everyday life. present in the games, such as geometry in the Jogo da onça.
