dc.description.abstract In this article, the imagery language (LI) present in two Chemistry textbooks from the 1st year of high school adopted by the Benjamin Batista School Unit was verified, with the aim of understanding the importance of LI in the textbook for the teaching of chemistry involving the content of chemical transformations. he development of the data was based on the analysis of the images present in the content of Chemical Transformations (reactions) present in these books. In addition, these images were classified as categories of iconicity, functionality and text-to-image relationship and finally, the book containing the most informative LI was identified. For data analysis, the this article is based on studies on visual resources in its general aspect, based on Souza (2018) and Perales and Jiménez (2002) address the use of images in textbooks. In addition, studies such as Santaella (2012) that addresses the reading of images. The image has a set of functions among them, demonstrations and description of phenomena, the presence of in LD influences the understanding of the content of TQ. In view of this, it is necessary to care in the presentation of imaging resources in LD, as well as a teacher's guidance to students in building an understanding of what is displayed.pt_BR
