Matofobia: um estudo de caso na unidade escolar José Basson

Abstract

This work sought to identify Matophobia in the José Basson School Unit, located in the city of Cocal-PI, Matophobia is a version, a sensation, a prejudice in relation to Mathematics, causing what the student fear and a repulsion for that discipline, it affects your entire student and personal life. With that, we have the importance of researching on this topic. As a field of research, we have the teachers of the José Basson School Unit, due to the fact that it is one of the most traditional schools in the city, we sought to understand if there is an existence of Matophobia in this school context, as well as analyze how possible existences . In the interview, all the teachers in the area of Mathematics of the institution were interviewed, in all there are 5 educators in the area of Mathematics, who from the 6th grade to the 9th grade of elementary school, the teachers' speeches were the teachers in the light of academic literature About the subject. The teachers point out some points that, in their view, potentiate this feeling, such as: The development of Matophobia since elementary school, due to the repetitive teaching method, and pointed out that this fear will get stronger as the grades go by, and the lack of contextualization of contents. We have that Matophobia is something present in this context and that it comes to study from the school context since the beginning of the students' lives
