Educação ambiental na formação de professores : um olhar sobre o curso de licenciatura em química do Instituto Federal do Piauí

Abstract

This study analyzed the integration of Environmental Education (EE) into the curriculum and pedagogical practices of the Chemistry Licentiate course at the Federal Institute of Piauí (IFPI), Picos Campus. The research problem investigated the gap between the formal proposal of the Pedagogical Project of the Course (PPC) and the students' perception of this training. Using a qualitative and descriptive methodology, the research combined a documentary analysis of the PPC with interviews with 14 students from the 9th semester. The results revealed that, although the PPC foresees EE as a transversal theme and in a specific discipline (Environmental Chemistry), students perceive a fragmented approach. The main challenges identified were the scarcity of didactic materials and the limited course load for a critical discussion. It is concluded that there is a significant disconnect between the curricular theory and the practical experience, highlighting the need for the institution to implement pedagogical strategies that articulate EE in a systemic and interdisciplinary manner.
