Ansiedade na avaliação escolar de química, era digital, estilo parental e desempenho acadêmico: um estudo de caso no ensino médio integrado

Abstract

Anxiety is a phenomenon that has become common in the school environment. In this context, this manuscript aims to analyze the emotional state of 3rd year students (Technical Course Integrated with High School in Computer Science at IFPI - Campus Paulistana) on the eve and on the day of the Chemistry school test and its relationships with the digital age and academic performance. The methodology is characterized as a qualitative case study, using Content Analysis (Bardin, 2011) as a technique for interpreting the data. As main results, it is highlighted that, on the eve and on the day of the Chemistry test, the students of the aforementioned class showed, in significant numbers, a high level of anxiety, accentuated by the digital age and by high social and school pressure, which can, therefore, negatively impact academic performance. Therefore, the theme under study is of great social, scientific and educational relevance, and may prompt future research in this area.

Thus, this manuscript aims to analyze the relationship between parenting style and anxiety of 3rd year students of the Integrated Technical Course in Computer Science at IFPI – Campus Paulistana when faced with the school assessment in Chemistry and its effects on academic performance. The methodology is characterized as a qualitative case study, using Content Analysis (Bardin, 2011) as a technique for interpreting the data. As main results, it is highlighted that adolescents of authoritative parents tend to deal better with pre-test anxiety and respond positively regarding academic performance. However, negligent guardians, considering the lack of limits and lack of support, negatively interfere in the emotional state and academic performance of their children. Therefore, parenting style significantly impacts the academic performance of the students contemplated in this research.
