Contribuições dos jogos africanos no ensino de matemática para uma educação antiracista

Abstract

The general objective of this study was to understand the importance of African games in teaching mathematics for anti-racist education. The specific objectives are to study the relationship between the implementation of Law 10,639/03 and the use of African games in schools, in sequence, to characterize the African games mancala and labyrinth used in teaching mathematics and finally identify the contributions of mathematics to a anti-racist education in elementary school. In this context, the use of games in teaching mathematics is a great teaching resource to be used in the classroom. Given this, this study raises the following guiding question: How important are African games in teaching mathematics for anti-racist education? The article presents research that begins with the methodology used, followed by discussions on Brazilian legislation related to anti-racist education and mathematics teaching, based on law 10639/2003. In a second item, the use of African games in teaching mathematics is discussed, highlighting their benefits and characterizing mancala and labyrinth games as anti-racist alternatives. The third item analyzes the contributions of these games to anti-racist education in elementary school. Finally, final considerations are presented, highlighting the objectives achieved by the research. It is concluded that the implementation of African games in mathematics teaching facilitates the application of Law 10.639/03, bringing respect to African culture, which has always been seen with a certain degree of inferiority
