PESQUISA E FORMAÇÃO INICIAL: caminhos pelo PIBID na Licenciatura em Matemática

Abstract

Scientific research plays an important role in initial teacher training and is an emerging topic. Training that involves research fosters critical and reflective thinking. In this context, this article analyzes the relationship between scientific research and the initial training of undergraduate mathematics students at IFPI, Piripiri Campus, involved in the Mathematics subproject of the PIBID program from 2023 to 2026, considering its contributions to teacher education. The research sought to answer the following question: how does the relationship between scientific research and initial teacher training occur from the perspective of undergraduate mathematics students in the PIBID program at IFPI, Piripiri Campus? This is a case study (Gil, 2023), with a mixed- methods approach, theoretically grounded in authors such as Morin (2000), Silva (2014), and Severino (2009; 2013). Data collection involved a literature review, document analysis, and interviews with undergraduate students participating in the program. The results highlighted the presence of research in the official documents of PIBID (Institutional Scholarship Program for Teaching Initiation) and in the curricula of the Mathematics Licentiate degree program, as well as the potential of the curricular components that address research. Interviews indicated that undergraduate students perceive this public policy as a training space that favors the connection between theory and practice, the development of scientific research, and the initiation into teaching mediated by research practice. Experiencing the different stages of the investigative process is fundamental to strengthening the skills foreseen in the curricular components and their relationship with the training of future mathematics teachers.
